Walking fifteen miles around Beijing because cabs wouldn't stop for me and I couldn't figure out the subway. I actually ended up learning a lot.
Getting a tourist NOT transit visa to China can be hard and requires lots of paperwork. Post Covid-19 there are stringent protocols in place for entry. Geopolitical issues can crop up at anytime.
